Sweden’s first national strategy for advanced materials has now been launched. It brings together stakeholders from across the sector around a shared vision – and a clear message about what is needed to realise it over the next ten years.
The aim is to:
create long-term economic, environmental and social sustainability
strengthen the national development of advanced materials, as well as products and systems that use them
shorten the time from material development to market
increase the circularity of materials
strengthen the resilience of value chains
The overarching sustainability dimension is clearly linked to concrete societal needs across several areas. Advanced materials are an enabler for important transitions and play a central role in creating environmental and climate benefits, strengthening the competitiveness of industry and contributing to increased societal security in Sweden.
Behind the strategic compass stands IAM4Sweden, which brings together programmes and platforms such as Bioinnovation, IMA, Innovair, LIGHTer, Metallic Materials, Net Zero Industry, Production2030, SIO Graphene, Smarter Electronics Systems, Swedish Metals & Minerals and the Swedish Chips Competence Centre to drive the development of advanced materials in Sweden.
